Fly Fishing from your Doorstep - the Stone Hut at Omarama Station
This original dwelling on the banks of the Omarama Stream was built in 1863 using the traditional local stone and clay employed by settlers at a time when supplies of timber in the area were scarce.
After years of being used as a farm shed, the one- room hut was recently given a new lease of life by Richard and Annabelle, getting completely restored and renovated and now has an ensuite installed, tea and coffee facilities, outside table and chairs and new furnishings.
Step outside your farmstay accommodation to fish
Your fly-fishing expedition starts as soon as you step outside and make your way along the stream on the station property.
The fly-fishing in the Omarama area is renowned for its quality fish and uncrowded waterways, and there is a huge range of fishing options within easy access of the property.
Non-fishing visitors will be able to enjoy the peaceful surrounds the hut provides, reading by the stream or simply taking advantage of the high number of sunny days in the area to relax and enjoy some time out.
Omarama Station offers a traditional New Zealand farmstay in a unique environment away from the bustle of the busier resort towns, and will be a memorable time out from a hectic holiday timetable.
